Striped finishes are one of the most classic of all decorative finishes. Lately we seem to be striping everywhere!
Striping is great if you need your room to appear higher or wider than it really is. If you are going for the appearance of a higher ceiling then think vertical. Expansion illusion? Go horizontal. If done correctly, stripes can lend a very elegant look to any room.
Looking for something new and fresh in striping? Try the Chevron! The most popular geometric pattern of 2012 is the Chevron stripe. It is basically an inverted V-shaped pattern that is repeated along the wall or fabric. A quick google search and you will find the pattern on walls, ceilings, dresses, polo shirts, picture frames, draperies and home decor.
And what about integrating new patterns or materials in a stripe? The possibilities are endless! We've used Venetian plaster, crushed glass, glowing Swarovski crystals and incredible irridescent metalics.
The width of the stripe can also vary greatly. Try following the grout lines of tile vertically in a bathroom to create a seamless wall or create more interest with stripes of various widths. In dining rooms, we often use the classic 6-8" shadow stripe, but we've created finishes with stripes as wide as 2 feet!
